ENTERPRISE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
RESEARCH GROUP (FGEIM)
Our goal is to conduct high quality, responsible, and collaborative research
into the design, use and consequences of emerging technologies
and information infrastructures.
To achieve our goal our work is guided by three key values:
Our research practice is transdisciplinary, participatory and action-oriented. We draw from theories of sociotechnical change and practice theory to examine the intended and unintended consequences of technology innovations.
Engaging with practice
We build partnerships for collaborative research with practitioners and other researchers and ensure our research findings have relevance and impact for both theory and practice.
We provide opportunities for our students to explore leading technologies and encourage them to address real world challenges and design and build ethical and technology appropriate solutions.
Our research labs
Our work is organised through two, closely related research labs, the Information Design Lab and the Enterprise of Things Lab.
Our research draws from and builds on intellectual foundations in the areas of computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), information and interaction design and sociotechnical change. Our work examines the consequences of technological, organisation and societal changes on work practices and how these shape the design of the digital workplace.
The EoT lab serves two main objectives:
To engage in research that critically examines how the Internet of Things (IoT) is shaping business, society and local practices. To provide opportunities for students to develop their skills and knowledge about IoT and to gain experience with the emerging technologies and platforms
Our latest activities
We share and publish our work regularly, these are our latest insights.

Although the use of Social Media provides many benefits, it also comes with a lot of risks that can affect people not only on a personal level, but also on a business or professional level. Therefore, the aim of this research is to conduct an in-depth analysis of Business and Professional Risks based on real-life incidents in order to find out when and how a risk occurs, who the responsible and affected stakeholders are and what could be potential consequences.
This work builds on and extends the FG EIM’s earlier work on Business and Professional Risks of Social Media.
